This is a remote position that can sit anywhere in southern California – headquarters is in Long Beach, CA.

General Summary:

The Director of Human Resources will be leading the Human Resources function within the company and will provide guidance and support in the areas of compensation, training and development, employee relations and morale, benefits administration, payroll, workers’ compensation, compliance, safety, recruitment, reporting, labor laws, etc. As the Director of Human Resources, you will be a key member of the company’s management team and will be working closely with the executive team.

Essential Job Functions:

Partner with management on all HR related topics; hiring, separations, recruiting, and organizational structure
Manage a team of 4 direct reports – coordinator, payroll, talent, and corporate administrator
Participate with executive management in the development and execution of employment related policies. Recommend courses of action considering changes in business needs, government regulations and market trends
Responsible for surveillance of such policies and initiation of corrective actions when required. Keeps management informed of potential legal issues, and develops and implements HR practices and policies designed to ensure legal compliance
Works with senior management to develop adequate organizational structure, succession plans and organization development in support of the long-term strategy of the company
Review compensation plans and make recommendations on salary ranges, bonuses, incentives, and increases due to promotions and transfers. Works with managers to resolve compensation issues that may arise during recruiting process, as a result of market changes or changes in job responsibilities
Develop and update Employee Handbook as needed to capture the company policies. Stays abreast of latest rules and regulations by conducting research and obtaining legal opinions to ensure that employee handbook and the company employment and labor practices follow federal and state regulations
Evaluate current benefits programs and makes recommendations for annual benefits review. Works with TPA to resolve issues related to premium bills, COBRA issues, claims, coverage issues. Responds to questions related to 401(k) plan provisions
Develops and conducts internal training programs, and makes recommendations for external programs as needed

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field required
7+ years of experience in human resources including experience in business partnering at a senior/executive level including at least 2 years in strategic HR management
4+ years managing and developing people with a proven track record in effectively managing and developing staff talent
Deep working knowledge of CA employment law, including hiring practices, EEO, EEOC, wage and hour, etc.
Strong analytical and planning skills, and attention to detail with the ability to stand back and focus on the big picture
Proven practical problem-solving skills and a “can do” approach; resilient and able to deliver results within ambiguity
Time management and prioritization; ability to establish the urgency of tasks and multi-task under pressure
Knowledge of ADP modules is highly desirable
Professional certification from SHRM and/or HCRI preferred
Previous experience with a professional services company preferred
