Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for an Engineer or Principal Engineer Software – DevOps to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in El Segundo, California.

You will be joining an exciting and new initiative to drive digital engineering for a major corporate pursuit. You will apply software engineering to create new tools and new workflows. Your job will be to solve tough problems using modern software to create new ways of doing things for our engineers.

*** This requisition may be filled at either a Principal Software Engineer level or Senior Principal Software Engineer level***

Basic Qualifications Principal Engineer:

Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM Discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) from an accredited University/College and 5 years of software engineering experience, or a Master’s in STEM and 3 years of related experience, or a PhD in STEM and 0 years of related experience
For Senior Principal Engineer (T04) position: Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM Discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) from an accredited University/College and 9 years of software engineering experience, or a Master’s in STEM and 7 years of related experience, or a PhD in STEM and 4 years of related experience
Hands-on experience in setting up CI/CD pipelines for full-stack web applications
Direct experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes, for both development and deployment
Direct experience with general infrastructure and application security concepts
Familiarity with 12-factor application methodology
Ability to obtain/maintain a U.S. Government DoD Security Clearance

Familiarity with 12-factor application methodology
Ability to obtain/maintain a U.S. Government DoD Security Clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge of site reliability and best-practices, including high-availability implementations, load balancing, network fault tolerance, and zero trust security architecture
Amazon Web Services (AWS) and/or Azure cloud experience
Implementing scalability and fault tolerance through code refactoring and a cloud-first mindset
Knowledge of / desire to learn about and implement chaos engineering
Experience with various deployment strategies
Direct experience with authentication concepts such as SSO, SAML, and LDAP
Direct experience with operations monitoring and root cause analysis
Prior DevOps experience with defense-related industries
Full-stack (Node.js-based) software development experience
Experience in two or more of the following: Python, C++, Terraform, Cloud Formation, Ansible, Jenkins, Mobile Development, Rust
Experience with MBSE tools and techniques
Ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional, cross-organizational employees, vendors, and customers
Active Secret DoD clearance or above

Salary Range: $101,400 USD – $152,200 USD
Salary Range 2: $125,800 USD – $188,600 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
