Reservations Lead Vacation Specialist

As the Reservations Supervisor Vacation Specialist, you and your team are the first impression of The Blake and Taos Ski Valley. You exhibit an unrehearsed sense of hospitality while working in a fast-paced environment and learn from each new challenge presented to you. You help create energy and excitement for the reservations team members who deliver positive experiences for guests, both internal and external. You provide support in the preparation and execution of each guest’s vacation, adding unique and personal touches to their experience. With a yearning to listen, you’re highly skilled at uncovering guests’ needs and following through with enlightening solutions and unhesitating sincerity. The Reservations Supervisor Vacation Specialist is passionate, adventurous, open-hearted, with an easy, unrehearsed sense of hospitality. They will promote the spirit of generosity and community, shared with guests through simple gestures that inspire lasting relationships. This position supports the Reservations Assistant Manager in the training, and supervision of the reservations team responsible for rental reservations at The Blake Hotel and other various reservations for Taos Ski Valley. Responsibilities include assisting with training employees; planning, assigning, scheduling and directing work; addressing complaints and resolving problems, and other duties or tasks as assigned by the Reservations Assistant Manager.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Conducts oneself with safety in mind and undertakes all job requirements in a manner which will guarantee a safe environment for oneself, guests, and fellow team members.

  • Assists with supervising the local reservations office and agents, including scheduling, training and ensuring proper completion of daily duties.
  • Follows departmental opening and closing procedures
  • Answers phone calls and returns emails in a prompt and professional manner
  • Supports the integration of new properties and products into the reservations’ department.
  • Assists in the management of The Blake’s and Taos Ski Valley’s reservations products including vendor relationships, ongoing training and product enhancements.
  • Conducts oneself with integrity, respect and compassion, recognizing that each individual’s unique attributes contribute to the overall success of TSV.
  • Strives for open, honest, and effective communication in order to build trust in our relationships with our guests and fellow employees.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned or requested

Qualifications/Knowledge:

  • Must be highly detail-oriented
  • Must take constructive criticism and frequent coaching well
  • Must be able to accurately follow instructions, both verbally and written
  • System knowledge is preferred but not required. IE: SMS, Inntopia, Siriusware, etc.
  • Must be willing to ask for help and/or clarification
  • Must be able to adapt to change in policy and/or procedures as directed and offer suggestions to improve operations.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience preferred
  • Understanding of Microsoft Office, strong typing skills and computer knowledge
  • Strong communication skills
  • Prior hospitality experience required; industry specific experience preferred
  • Previous lead reservations agent experience preferred
  • Fluent in verbal and written English, other language skills preferred
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends, holidays, and evenings.

Work Environment:

Must be able to stand or sit for long periods of time. Must be able to work over the phone or on a computer for extended periods of time. Taos Ski Valley, Inc. is often a fast-paced work environment, especially during Holiday and Peak days. TSVI is located in a high-altitude alpine environment. Position may require travel on uneven, snow-packed, or icy terrain and may be exposed to wet, cold, and/or humid conditions. Must be able to work in close quarters and with other staff.

Physical Demands of Position Include:

Occasionally might have to lift or move office items up to 10lbs. 5% of time may be sent walking, occasionally outdoors or on snow/ice, to meetings or other departments, 5% of time may be spent reaching for items and 90% of time will be spent sitting working with the computer or on the phone either talking or listening.
