AR is the prime contractor for the flight proven, high-performance RS-25 engines used to propel America’s next-generation heavy lift launch vehicle, NASA’s Space Launch System (SLS).
AR has begun developing a new generation of RS-25 engines for when the 16 engines remaining from the space shuttle program are used on the Artemis Program.
These engines will achieve a greater than 30% cost reduction from the engines that flew on the space shuttle and feature the latest in advanced manufacturing techniques.We are seeking an Integrated Product Team (IPT) Lead to manage the RS-25 Nozzle team from AR’s Canoga Park, CA office.
The Nozzle IPT Leader will demonstrate strong team building and communication skills to motivate a cross-functional team including AR, NASA customers, and subcontract personnel.
This position requires the candidate to organize and lead the Nozzle team toward specific program and project goals, including but not limited to Component engineering staff, Quality Engineering, Manufacturing Engineers, Program Leads, Operations Leadership and Specialists.
The IPT Leader will ensure the Nozzle team maintains a strong working relationship with the other RS-25 IPT’s.
The candidate must also have the ability to direct a technical effort, making clear the objectives of the project at the same time as providing clear assignments & deliverables for each team member with aggressive cost and schedule targets.
The ability to estimate and manage cost and schedule performance is imperative for this position and working knowledge of EVMS tools is required.
Lastly, the candidate must have the ability to communicate progress and issues to higher level management including Senior Executives, Program Management, along with all team members and COE’s.

Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each): 75%
– Lead the AR product team in the area of Nozzles.
This includes leading all aspects of product design, fabrication and test evaluation for components in this area.
The IPT Leader will demonstrate a technical knowledge of combustion element design, fabrication, test, and risk management.
This knowledge will be applied to properly balance technical performance, programmatic constraints, and risk.

– Ensure the scope of work is completed within cost and schedule constraints by applying management tools to plan, monitor and implement corrective action as required.
Definition and overall management of the program scope is required.

– The IPT Leader will ensure all subcontractors meet program requirements.

– Support capture activity and IR for the contract follow-on efforts.
Requirements: Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and at least fourteen (14) years of applicable experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Strong background in regenerative cooled combustion containment components fabrication and component/engine tests preferred.
Candidate should also have demonstrated successful management of technical, cost and schedule goals.
Candidate should also have experience in dealing with customers and in leading cross functional work teams.
Finally, candidate should have business capture training or experience in proposal preparation for government acquisitions.
