Test Engineering Manager

Terran Orbital is seeking a motivated Test Engineering Manager based at our Irvine, CA, location. Terran Orbital is a leading worldwide provider of nanosatellite and microsatellite vehicles, services, and solutions to commercial and government customers.

The Test Engineering Manager leads a team of test engineers responsible for building and maintaining the electrical and mechanical test setups that enable end-to-end testing of both spacecraft modules and space vehicles. The Test Engineering Manager shall also support the necessary development and delivery of the automated test software to support the module and space vehicle level testing. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, planning and execution of the necessary efforts to support test engineering projects, future pursuits, and programs. The manager proactively collaborates with functional and business leadership teams to support business growth and program requirements.

In this role, the selected candidate will communicate with stakeholders internal and external of the organization, including customers, vendors, executive leadership, and other engineering discipline managers on ground software statuses as well as proposal and future work.


  • Collaborate with business and functional leadership to prioritize tasking to align with the needs of the business
  • Participate in customer meetings and coordinate with Program Managers and Product Managers to define and refine ground software requirements
  • Track all internal and external deliverables, prepare and present formal and informal design and progress reviews to the executive team and our customers
  • Analyze requirements and create project scope and milestones for module and space vehicle tests and supporting tasks
  • Assign tasks to test engineers and work with the technical lead to ensure work is being executed to the required timelines and quality
  • Identify opportunities for test suites to support vehicle production, testing, and operations across multiple missions
  • The ability to travel as necessary


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Sciences and relevant experience
  • Desired Development experience in Python, Labview, shell scripting, or C
  • Experience with Atlassian tools (JIRA, Bitbucket, Confluence, etc.)
  • Proficiency with MS Office tools, including experience with Excel and PowerPoint
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate information with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work simultaneously on a variety of projects; possesses strong organization and prioritization skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills to motivate and engage teams through innovation, collaboration, and mentorship initiatives
  • Strong writing, presentation, and oral communication skills
  • Experience with industry testing standards
  • Experience with developing technical documentation as necessary
  • Experience managing the new product and module lifecycle
